Legal Communications Intern

Toyoda Gosei North America (located in Troy, MI) has an opening for a Legal and Compliance Summer Intern. The Legal and Compliance Intern will work as an integral member of the Legal and Compliance team, in cooperation with other cross-functional departments to ensure TG adheres to legal standards and internal policies. The Legal and Compliance Intern will help manage and improve TG’s Compliance and Ethics Program by assessing, analyzing, and managing the impact of both internal and external factors (risks) on TG operations throughout the Americas.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Projects related to the enhancement of the Compliance and Ethics Program within TG Americas Group, including;
- Assist in preparing microlearning tools, compliance infographics, awareness materials, and other visual communication tools
- Support risk assessments to understand risk level, significance and impact to TG’s Compliance & Ethics Program
- Assist in the development, review, revision and implementation of department policies and procedures
- Research best practices in Legal/Compliance to continuously improve TG’s Program
- Collect and analyze compliance data
- Maintain documentation of compliance activities
- Cross-functional collaboration between Legal, OneHR, Corporate Planning and Internal Audit
- Support to other Legal and Compliance tasks and activities as necessary
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Minimum of 2 years’ undergraduate studies completed
- Coursework towards a Bachelor Degree in Communication, English, Business Administration, or Pre-Law
- Interest in law, corporate governance, compliance and ethics and/or risk management
- Understanding of Japanese Culture and Business practices is a plus
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organization and communication skills required
- Highly analytical and detail oriented
