Park Management Intern-Alapocas Run State Park

Interns in this position will assist with daily operations and event planning for Alapocas Run State Park and the Blue Ball Barn. Interns will work directly with staff and customers on a daily basis, often serving as our visitor’s first point of contact at Alapocas Run State Park. Park Management Interns will assist with office work, park projects, special events, and volunteer coordinating.  Interns will gain experience in managing and coordinating park projects, report writing, working with volunteers, handling money, event planning and management, and customer service. They will work with the Park Manager to develop one special portfolio project and will take on a leadership role in the park.   

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on specific park projects, including special event coordination and park maintenance projects utilizing volunteers

• Serve as the public’s first point of contact through face-to-face interaction, email, and phone calls

• Assist with park maintenance, events, programming and planning

• Assist in taking reservations, handling money and scheduling, completing and submitting reports

Requirements

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to work alone with little direct supervision
• Prior customer service and money handling experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license 
• Ability to lead others -leadership skills
