ARTS MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIPS for Summer 2025

 

The Great Lakes Center for the Arts (GLCFA) is a 501(c)3 with four, full-time, paid arts management internship positions slated for summer 2025: Development; Marketing; Production; and Venue Operations. All Great Lakes Center for the Arts interns will work alongside the entire GLCFA team and gain valuable experience in a variety of areas, anchored by a focus on the development of a leadership mindset and leadership skills, within the field of arts management.

 

The 2025 Summer Season includes a Gala event and numerous performances by renowned artists and groups live on Center Stage. The 525-seat, $30 million venue opened in July of 2018 with state of the art production capabilities that have helped make the Center a destination along the shores of Lake Michigan's Little Traverse Bay. The GLCFA strives to inspire, entertain, educate, and serve all in Northern Michigan year-round by presenting exceptional experiences across the full spectrum of the performing arts and offering impactful educational opportunities.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • 4, full-time positions available. The Center will hire one person for each of the following internships: Development; Marketing; Production; and Venue Operations;
  • Job descriptions are posted on the GLCFA website's Summer Internship webpage, accessible from the homepage under “About Us;”
  • GLCFA seeks individuals with direct, relevant experience in the position for which they are applying. Relevant coursework is helpful but less important than hands-on experience;
  • Duration: 13 weeks, mid-May through mid-August (reach out if interested but would need flexibility with dates);
  • Work at the Gala (Saturday, July 12) is mandatory;
  • Work Logistics:  generally 35 hours/week, at $15.50 per hour; if overtime (>40 hours/week) is required by a supervisor, the overtime rate is $23.25/hr;
  • Interns must have a car at their disposal for the duration of the internship.

 

HOUSING

Housing location and costs are the intern’s responsibility. Should you be selected for an internship and need housing, the GLCFA team will make every effort to help. To that end, the GLCFA has reserved a limited number of single, dormitory rooms at a community college located within 5 miles of the venue; these rooms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
