Communications Assistant- The Ministry of Caring
The Communications Assistant works closely with the Communications Director on in-house graphic design and writing projects. A particular emphasis will be on creating social media posts.
The volunteer will develop, research, interview and create materials in support of the Ministry of Caring's mission. Responsibilities may include content production or
editing for newsletters, brochures, videos, social media posts, events publications, and various administrative tasks. One day/week, the LVC
member will provide direct service within a Ministry of Caring program.
_Design newsletters, brochures, and other print materials using programs like Adobe InDesign
- Prepare news stories and photographs for distribution--often through internal and external newsletters--coordinate mailings, conduct research,
perform interviews, and write articles
- Distribute calendar notices of Ministry events
- Participate in media relations as necessary
- Provide effective communication tools to event chairs, co-chairs and other volunteers
- Support the Communications Director in maintaining an up-to-date and active web presence
- Assist with maintenance and growth of social media accounts
- Spend a significant portion of service time on administrative tasks, including assembly of staff name badges, business card production, etc.
- On occasion/if needed: shoot and edit videos about programs and events
- Work one day/week in direct service at one Ministry of Caring program
