What is the Opportunity?
SMBC hosts a 10-week Summer Intern Program for undergraduate students who will have the opportunity to work on teams, be exposed to significant firm-wide projects within their respective business areas and support a range of deals with our clients.
Participants in our Summer Intern Program will work on a variety of projects including building financial models, developing client presentations, conducting research, and participating in client meetings – all to improve their understanding of the global banking industry.
Our Summer Intern Program is pipeline to our full-time Analyst Program.

What is the Opportunity?
We are looking for Summer Interns to join the Corporate & Investment Banking Coverage - Lending Management Group:
Within CIBC, the Lending Management Group is responsible for end to end deal execution and portfolio management across a spectrum of industries. The main function of this role is to provide analytical support to the senior members of the LMG team. This individual will support associates and senior level staff in preparing credit applications for approval by the risk management department, reviewing quarterly financial and annual reports, conducting regular credit analysis of the clients in the portfolio, providing research and analytics, drafting summaries on earnings calls, and performing other administrative responsibilities as well as ad-hoc tasks as required. You will conduct financial analysis on our clients to assess both historical performance and future expectations. Due diligence will also include analysis of the client industry, peers and identifying risks. You will gather supporting documentation to facilitate execution of client transactions, liaise with the Know Your Customer team, and handle a variety of system and credit administrative issues related to our clients such as internal rating and monthly/quarterly reporting.

This 10-week program commences in June and includes:

- Mentorship opportunity with both a junior and senior mentor at SMBC
