Mission and Spiritual Health Intern

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Bon Secours Mercy Health Internship Program is a paid, immersive program that will expose students to the healthcare industry while also giving them the skills and experience needed to build a future career. The program also features additional opportunities for mentorship, networking, career & professional development, job shadowing, and exposure to senior and executive leaders. The Mission Intern will work under the direction of the Mission Leader, this intern will assist with Mission, Ethics and Spiritual Health projects and services.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Assist with strengthening Mission culture initiatives such as prayer services and initiatives helping associates with understanding health care as a vocation/calling
  • Assist with ethics program initiatives including rounding in high acuity units, educational activities, and quality improvement programs.
  • Work with the Spiritual Health and Chaplain team with spiritual distress screening and patient experience initiatives.
  • Assist with other Mission projects, as assigned

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D degree in: Theology, Spirituality, Ethics or related fields

 

Work Experience

  • 2 years of experience in a service-oriented position working with the public (food service, health care, student services, education, etc.). (preferred)

  • Strong service orientation
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and sense of accountability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite – specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing priorities, and effectively manage deadlines
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and have strong rapport with the leaders and colleagues
