About Us

Humans of San Quentin www.humansofsanquentin.org is a humanitarian non-profit sharing the lives of people inside prison with the outside world. Our mission is to collect authentic stories shared by people incarcerated to bring awareness and build connections. The aim is to give voice to the unheard. We aspire to educate and build compassion by sharing the lives of  humans living behind bars.   

Join the Humans of San Quentin 2025 Summer Internship Program!

Humans of San Quentin is now recruiting college interns for our 2025 Summer Internship Program. This is an in-person, unpaid internship with the option to earn college credit. The application deadline is April 28th, 2025, at 11:00pm.

About the Program

Our internship offers a meaningful opportunity to support our mission of sharing the stories of incarcerated individuals with the world. Interns collaborate closely with our team on tasks like community outreach, story development, and creating impactful content for social media, newsletters and our impact report to name a few. This hands-on experience equips interns with valuable skills while fostering a deeper understanding of incarceration and advocacy.

Intern Responsibilities

Summer interns are generalists, gaining hands-on experience across various aspects of our organization. Duties may include:

• Corresponding with and supporting incarcerated writers
• Contributing to social media platforms
• Designing and publishing website content
• Assisting with podcast production
• Fundraising efforts
• Creating newsletters
• And more!

Skills and Qualifications

• Proficiency in social media content creation
• Experience with Canva and Google Suite
• Creativity, adaptability, and a passion for storytelling

Unique Opportunity

Interns may also have the chance to visit a prison and meet people incarcerated, providing a firsthand perspective on their stories and experiences.
