Duties:

Intern position would support UCOR’s Waste Transportation Program Manager with the following duties:

 

  • Data collection for generation of waste shipments and permits
  • Review of radiological and chemical analytical data
  • Develop spreadsheets and populate files
  • Draft summary fact sheets and white papers gleaned from meetings
  • Review calculations
  • Participate in field walk downs and document evaluations
  • Participates in load securement
  • Identification and classification of hazardous waste materials under direct supervision
  • Assist with waste package selection, placarding.
  • Perform and document inspection of transportation related activities including, but not limited to; container and conveyance condition; waste container preparation and acceptance; waste container closure and overall acceptability.
  • Support coordination of waste transporter arrangements
  • Prepare waste shipments, manifest, and other related documents in compliance Department of Transportation, DOE Orders, UCOR programmatic requirements.
  • Interface with Waste Programs representatives and Waste Generator organization
  • Develops load securement plans when required.
  • Verify and validate waste shipments are completed per site requirements.
  • Assist with procedure development.
  • Identification of streamlining activities.

 

Job-Related Qualifications Required:

Current college student pursuing a degree in Science or Engineering who have completed their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year of college by the end of May 2025, or who is currently a graduate student pursuing a higher degree.

The 2025 UCOR Summer Internship Program is a 12-week program held from late May to early August. You must be able to be onsite for the internship program.
