Cell Testing Engineer Co-op

Green hydrogen plays an essential role towards our net-zero mission. Hydrogen has widespread industrial and transport applications.  Conventional hydrogen production from fossil fuels is accompanied by the release of large quantities of carbon dioxide. Our innovative technologies use renewable energy and water to produce green hydrogen with zero emission.  We aspire to improve efficiency, reduce the cost, and scale the manufacturing to meet the booming green hydrogen market.     

 

We are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Co-op to join our newly launched H2 Center of Excellence (COE) in Burlington, MA. You will engage and contribute to cutting edge technology which will be integral in a greener world. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrolyzer subscale cells’ assembly, testing, and data collection.
  • Work with R&D scientists to design and implement electrochemical test protocols, perform electrochemical and mechanical characterizations, and work with software engineers to automate data analysis and ensure data-based decision-making.
  • Assist in the modification and maintenance of test stations.
  • Assist in literature research and materials acquisition to support product development.
  • Maintain accurate scientific records and prepare detailed reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet project goals.
  • Actively maintain and promote a safe working environment in the labs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completed or currently pursuing a BS or MS in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Hand-on experience in electrochemical techniques (i.e. CV, LSV, EIS etc.) and material characterization techniques (i.e. SEM/EDS, optical microscopy, XRF, adsorption studies, etc.).
  • Programming experience with Python is a big plus
  • Highly motivated with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.
  • Ability to complete tasks with little or no supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of PEM Fuel cells and/or electrolyzers.
