Undergraduate Social Media Intern - Department of Biological Sciences
The Department of Biological Sciences is seeking motivated and creative undergraduate Social Media Interns to oversee all social media platforms for the department. These internships are an exciting opportunity for students passionate about social media and content creation. You will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to share the department's events, research achievements, and opportunities with the broader community.
This is a part-time position (average of 5 hours per week) with a pay rate of $15 per hour. The interns will have the chance to build their portfolio while helping raise awareness of the innovative work happening in the department.
Responsibilities:
Manage and update all social media accounts (e.g. Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc.).
Create engaging and informative content to highlight department news, research, faculty achievements, student successes, and events.
Design and implement a social media calendar to plan and schedule posts in advance.
Collaborate with faculty, students, and staff to gather content and ensure accuracy in posts.
Monitor and track social media analytics to gauge engagement and suggest improvements.
Promote departmental events, guest speakers, research opportunities, and other key initiatives.
Help prepare the annual Biology alumni newsletter.
Stay current with trends in social media and digital communication, offering creative suggestions for expanding the department's reach.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with various social media platforms and best practices for each (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc.)
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
Basic graphic design skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with social media management tools is a plus.
