Nonprofit Administrative Internship

POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Nonprofit Administrative Internship/Work Study 

DEPARTMENT: Admin

REPORTS TO: Donor Relationship Coordinator 

HOURS: 10-15 hours a week Monday-Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, with occasional evening hours

PAY: Semester Stipend or Work Study

 

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Nonprofit Administrative Intern/Work Study to join our team. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, event planning, and fundraising.

 

OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES FOR THE STUDENT:

Hands-On Experience: Work directly on nonprofit fundraising initiatives and operations processes, gaining valuable experience in nonprofit administrative functions and office environment.

Nonprofit Skills: Contribute to the planning and execution of fundraising events and detailed data management.

Professional Growth: Learn in a collaborative, team environment with mentorship and support from organization leadership.   

Networking: Build your professional network by engaging with non-profit leaders and supporters. 

 

 

KEY DUTIES:

  • Assist with data collection and entry for grant reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the assembly of event sponsorship letters, informational packets, employee onboarding packets and other admin tasks as assigned.
  • Help secure silent auction donations by researching potential donors, mailing solicitation letters, following up via phone and email, and coordinating item pickups when needed.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of events, including logistical planning and on-site support.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Enthusiasm for nonprofit work and a willingness to learn.

The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office setting to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present. All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth locations may be required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.
