About the job

In this customer-facing role, you will contribute to strategic JMP Sales and Marketing initiatives both through science communication and reference selling support in Salesforce. The three key characteristics that will make you successful in this role are: 1) The ability to work independently and check your own work to avoid errors, 2) Strong interpersonal and networking skills and 3) A genuine interest in science.

 

The JMP Customer Alliance Intern will have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of projects, including:

 

Storytelling and Communications:

  • Work closely with customers to quantify the value JMP brings to their organization.
  • Capture customer stories in writing or video.
  • Communicate complex scientific ideas clearly and effectively in the language of the customer.
  • Distill insights from a variety of academic and professional sources.  

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Sales to understand sellers’ reference needs and ensure they have access to the right references at the right time.
  • Work closely with Marketing to pair brand-level storytelling with planned advertising campaigns.
  • Partner with Product Management to identify reference-worthy features and align content strategy with JMP’s business priorities and product messaging.

Program Operations:

  • Maintain comprehensive reference indexes and other internal resources.
  • Develop new resources and document best practices for Sales and Marketing partners.
  • Ensure that customer references are accurately and efficiently used across the company.

Measurement and Reporting:

  • Review and approve reference profiles and nominations in Salesforce.
  • Work with vendor to develop dashboards in Salesforce that map to reference selling priorities.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness and impact.
  • Provide program improvement recommendations based on an analysis of Salesforce data.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Be passionate about networking and building rapport with scientists and engineers who use JMP.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for JMP users; build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Demonstrate genuine curiosity about JMP users and their work.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  •  Current undergraduate student (preferably 3rd year) enrolled in an accredited program, not graduating prior to December 2025. 
  • Major/coursework in Sales, Marketing, Journalism, or English is preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and interest in a customer-facing role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and work independently and proactively.
  • Demonstrated passion for science and engineering.

Timeline

  • Interviews begin: Feb 2025
  • Internship: May 20 – August 8, 2025. If your university is on a quarter system, we can be flexible on start date.
