Technical Services Laboratory Intern

Job Title: Technical Services Laboratory Intern

Position Summary:

Come join our team as a Technical Services Laboratory Intern. You will be an active member of the STERIS Life Sciences Consumables Technical Services Team supporting the Process and Cleaner Evaluation (PACE®) Laboratory and Pharmaceutical Detergent product line. This internship will allow you to develop work instructions for analytical instrumentation. You will be gaining knowledge by working under the guidance of STERIS Life Sciences Technical Services Management.

  • Dates: Summer 2025 (May-August)
  • Location: St. Louis, MO
  • Work Environment: Onsite

 

What You'll Do as a Technical Services Laboratory Intern:

  • Assist Life Sciences Consumable Technical Services team in the development of work instructions for analytical instrumentation:
    • Development of a E-Gel™ Power Snap Electrophoresis System (or similar) nucleic acid gel electrophoresis & blotting assay to evaluate nucleic acid degradation.
    • Evaluate parameters for nucleic acid degradation with pharmaceutical detergent products from stainless steel substrates compared to commodity chemicals
    • Assist with PACE and analytical laboratory Customer

 

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed:

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with a major in chemistry, biochemistry, or other related science field
  • Successful completion of junior year requirements by program start (May 2025)
  • Coursework and labs in chemistry curriculum
  • Coursework and/or experience in data management tools (i.e. Excel, statistical analysis)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in a laboratory setting, with familiarity with good laboratory hygiene and safety practices
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs as needed

Preferred:

  • Interest in marketing with marketing coursework

Other:

  • Able to strictly adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and identify trends
  • Technical aptitude necessary to work with formulated chemistries products
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to engage as a team player who is detail oriented and follows through
