Location

We’re seeking a dynamic and motivated contributor to join our team in one of our key office locations: San Francisco. Our interns will be hybrid -  sometimes you'll work from home, sometimes you'll work from the office. Managers and their organization will establish the frequency you'll need to go into the office to meet priorities.

 

About the Internship

We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our growing team in Business Technology (BT) and to help scale our business solutions while providing an extra focus on security, enabling Okta to be the most efficient, scalable, and reliable company. In this role, you will design and develop customizations, extensions, configurations, and integrations required to meet the company’s strategic business goals. Candidates will partner with business stakeholders, business analysts, and engineers on different infrastructure layers, from proposal development to deployment and support. Therefore, dedication to working with others to  problem-solve and deliver high-quality solutions is essential. In addition, your product owner will look to you to provide all technical services—design, config, software development, and testing.

What You’ll Get To Do

Work with engineering management and an assigned mentor to scope and plan engineering efforts.

Design and implement core, high-performance, scalable software components.

Implement clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.

Utilize test-driven development practices and participate in design and code reviews to ensure the reliability and maintainability of code.

Partner with QA, Product Management, Technical Support, Engineering peers, Documentation, and UX teams to ensure seamless integration and product delivery.

Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and impactful presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

Who We are Looking For

The ideal candidate for this role will identify with our passion and pride in the simple elegance and usability of our solution and will join an engineering team that strongly believes in automated testing, UX design, and an iterative process. 

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Computer Science or related fields and graduating between December 2025 and June 2026 inclusive.

Strong passion for software development, testing, and solving complex problems.

Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Go, Node.js, C++, Python).

Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.

Basic knowledge of JavaScript and its role in modern application development.

Knowledge of web application frameworks, RDBMS & Application Servers (experience in one or more preferred).

Effective communication skills to partner with cross-functional teams and present technical ideas clearly.

Prior internship or project experience in software development (a plus).

Experience building solutions using Salesforce, AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, Fargate, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, and SES (strong plus).

Knowledge of RESTful APIs and API design principles (strong plus).
