Safety Intern
The Suffolk County Water Authority is seeking a conscientious second- or third-year college level Environmental Health and Safety student to assist within the safety department.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect AEDs and emergency eye wash showers
- Conduct field inspections on construction and production crews
- Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments
- Conduct electrical hazard inspections
- Conduct Lab inspections
- Conduct Petroleum Bulk Storage/ Chemical Bulk Storage inspections alongside EHS specialists
Requirements:
- No prior job experience is necessary.
- Coursework in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering or Industrial Hygiene
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Must be highly organized, responsible, and goal-orientated, with a strong attention to detail.
- Possess excellent communication skills and be motivated to learn.
- Must be a Suffolk County resident and possess a valid driver’s license.
This is a paid internship within a range of $17.00-21.00/hr depending on year. Employment will begin in May and continue through mid-August. Work hours are to be determined, with a maximum of 28 hours per week.
