Human Resources Intern

BWXT is currently seeking a  Human Resources Intern for our NOGB location in Barberton, OH!

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources (HR) Intern to join our team this summer and provide day to day support as a valued contributor to our HR team. This role will offer you the opportunity to work on the employee facing operational side of HR. Day-to-day experiences will vary, including but not limited to supporting employees with informational inquiries, ensuring accuracy of employee records, and fostering positive employee relations through employment activities like onboardings and other employee engagement events.  Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be fully utilized as you learn more about the day-to-day activities within HR operations.

 

Reporting to the local HR Manager, this is a temporary onsite work opportunity for the summer of 2025 in support of and located at BWXT’s Nuclear Operation Group manufacturing plant in Barberton, OH.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Research and provide accurate and timely responses to employee inquires.
  • Support new hire onboarding and provide a positive employee experience to NOGB new hires.
  • Support accurate data collection through updates to internal employee systems and databases.
  • Use available tools and resources to prepare HR-related reports in support of the business.
  • Review and provide recommendations on how to improve HR policies & processes.
  • Draft engaging employee communications on policy and procedural changes.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, integrity and confidentiality of new hire files and records.
  • Collaborate with HR and the local management team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • This opportunity is available to current students working toward a degree in human resource management or a closely related field.
  • Ability to handle and work with confidential information within defined requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Ability to report to an assigned work location each day as scheduled.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with or working knowledge of U.S. labor laws.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and applicant tracking system software.
