DNV's Energy Services Systems is seeking an Engineering Program Intern (Materials Science, Corrosion, or Related Field) to support various types of specialized corrosion and mechanical testing. The research and testing performed in Columbus is supporting operations and infrastructure to meet the current global energy demand, while accelerating decarbonization strategies that include transportation and storage of hydrogen and CO₂.

This role is based at our DNV office in Dublin, OH, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

What You'll Do:

  • Setup, run, and disassemble laboratory experiments, including:
    • Handling pressurized equipment/gas and chemicals/test solutions (some environments will be hazardous – thorough safety training will be provided)
    • Collecting data
    • Analyzing test specimens using photography, microscopy, balances, calipers
  • Perform tasks on projects relating to materials selection and corrosion testing and analysis. This includes experimental setup data collection, and data analysis.
  • General laboratory activities, including organizing equipment, supplies, and cleaning glassware, equipment, and samples.
  • Follow the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Assurance program on projects.

 

What is Required:

*NOTE: Please include your current Grade Point Average (GPA) on your Resume/CV.

  • Currently enrolled in a Materials Science, Corrosion, or Related Engineering Program
  • Well organized & proactive, able to successfully work in a fast paced environment with diverse people – clients and co-workers
  • Ability to regularly lift 25lbs
  • Strong written and verbal English communication.
  • We conduct pre-employment background and drug screening, as well as random drug screening to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
     

What is Preferred:

  • Experience working in a laboratory and conducting hands-on experiments
  • Experience running electrochemical corrosion tests and/or mechanical tests
  • Experience with python and machine learning
