Systems Engineering Intern
Job Summary:
The Systems Engineering Intern is engaged in the development and verification of engineering solutions supporting battery pack systems. This individual interfaces with American Battery Solutions (ABS) Prototype and Production Manufacturing teams, Systems Engineering, and Test and Validation teams.
Responsibilities:
- Complete a 12-week project presentation at the end of internship of an analysis of design concepts to meet requirements and system architectures, using Sparx EA, Jama Connect, and Simulink / Simscape, or similar tools.
- Assist with requirements management, traceability, reports, dashboards.
- Assist with sub-system verification testing (test setup for EMC, BDU, Thermal).
- Assist with writing sub-system test plans and verification test cases for sub-system EMC testing and other sub-systems.
- Assist with architecture development in Sparx EA.
- Organize system engineering component library of pack schematics.
- Organize/optimize system engineering files in SharePoint and update configuration management plans.
- Report the progress of tasks on a regular basis.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA required to enter the program.
- Must be actively enrolled in school.
Position Qualifications:
- Undergraduate/graduate student working towards a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or other relevant degree.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.
- May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or reach overhead.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain.
- Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
- The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.
- May be required to recognize small numbers, letters, symbols, and colors.
