Your role in helping us shape the future:
If you're constantly planning your next trip, watching TikToks about travel hacks and writing novels to your friends about your recent adventures, then this internship could be right for you. U.S. News Travel is seeking a summer intern who wants to learn the process of creating a U.S. News travel guide from start to finish. You'll source photos, publish content live to the website and research attractions around the globe. You'll also depart this internship with at least one article for your portfolio.
Are you up to the challenge?
- Photo sourcing: Using Getty, you will find dynamic images for our updated travel guides, and you will also be responsible for sourcing images from third parties (such as museums and visitors bureaus) in case Getty does not have the imagery we need.
Travel Guide Production: You will prepare assignment documents for freelancers, and also be responsible for uploading completed guides (and the necessary images) to our DMS.
Fact-checking: You will fact-check important information for high-priority destinations to keep our information up-to-date for travelers.
- Tours production: You will upload updated tours articles to Brightspot. You may also be responsible for creating new article enhancements (such as category navigation boxes) and inserting the enhancements into the article.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
Part-time or full-time students who have completed 48+ credit hours (rising juniors/seniors and graduate students) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
Good oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
3.0 GPA or above preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
You should have an interest in or familiarity with travel, attention to detail, organization skills, ability to meet deadlines, ability to handle tasks simultaneously from internal coworkers and external partners, writing and editing skills, familiarity with AP Style
Web production skills
Degree programs that emphasize writing and/or communications (English, journalism, communications, history, etc.)
Prefer journalism, communications or English majors who have completed at least one relevant internship.
Summer Intern Program Description:
10 weeks; starting on Monday, June 2 through Friday, Aug 8, 2025
We expect interns to work 37.5 hours/week, Monday- Friday
All candidates must be able to work a hybrid in-office work schedule from our Washington, DC office.
Internship pays $17.50 per hour
