Your role in helping us shape the future:
Are you a self-starter with excellent research and writing skills, naturally curious, not afraid to ask questions, and a determined problem solver? If so, we want you for the Communications Department of U.S. News. Our intern will have the opportunity to write, create and produce a variety of print and digital communications across many topic areas, and collaborate with a variety of teams within the company, including editorial, SEO, design and production.
Are you up to the challenge?
Daily monitoring of press mentions, industry news and social media platforms
Content planning support (e.g., ideating on future campaigns, collaboratively researching and writing survey content, assisting in drafting content briefs, etc.)
Building and updating media contact databases
Building communications reports
Researching and drafting press releases, media pitches, social posts and videos, fact sheets and awards submissions
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
Part-time or full-time students who have completed 48+ credit hours (rising juniors/seniors and graduate students) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
Good oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
3.0 GPA or above preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
Journalism/Public Relations/Communications background preferred
Strong research and writing skills
Knowledge and experience with social media platforms
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Initiative and ability to work independently
Ability to multitask and work on deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Summer Intern Program Description:
10 weeks; starting on Monday, June 2 through Friday, Aug 8, 2025
We expect interns to work 37.5 hours/week, Monday- Friday
All candidates must be able to work a hybrid in-office work schedule from our Washington, DC office.
Internship pays $17.50 per hour
