Architect/ Architect Intern
Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and talented Architect/ Architect Intern to join our team. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in architectural design, building planning, land development, and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will assist in creating innovative designs, preparing technical drawings, conducting site assessments, and supporting the team in delivering quality and sustainable design solutions.
Essential duties and Responsibilities
Design Assistance:
- Assist in developing architectural designs for new buildings, land layouts, and renovations under the guidance of senior architects and engineers.
- Help create detailed drawings, blueprints, and 3D models using architectural software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Site Assessments & Research:
- Participate in site visits to gather information on land conditions and existing structures.
- Assist in researching zoning laws, building codes, and other regulatory requirements related to ongoing projects.
Project Support:
- Support the project team with the preparation and organization of documents, reports, and presentations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure designs meet client needs and project specifications.
- Help monitor project timelines and assist with tracking project milestones.
Renovation & Design Planning:
- Assist in designing and planning renovation projects while ensuring a focus on structural integrity and aesthetic improvement.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to address design challenges and explore innovative solutions.
Sustainability & Compliance:
- Learn and support sustainable design practices in architectural projects.
- Ensure that designs and documents comply with all local, state, and federal building codes and environmental standards.
Client and Team Interaction:
- Support communication with clients to understand their needs and assist in presenting design concepts.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, contractors, and design professionals.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of architectural principles, building systems, and materials.
- Familiarity with building codes, zoning laws, and construction regulations is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a creative mindset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world architectural and engineering projects.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform this job successfully. While performing the duties pertaining to this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include traveling to construction sites, which may require walking on uneven terrain and navigating through various environmental conditions (e.g., outdoor settings, construction zones). Conducting site assessments, including standing, walking, or bending for extended periods while observing structures or taking measurements.
Education and Experience
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Coursework in architectural design, building systems, structural engineering, construction methods, and related subjects is preferred.
Attendance
Must maintain regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Nello attendance policy. Regular and consistent attendance can be defined as working 40 hours per week, or other determined hours, days, and/or weeks as determined by the direct supervisor or management to meet business objectives. Must be willing and able to work, when required, daily, weekly, or weekend overtime to meet business objectives. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
