Facility Operations Crew

JOB SUMMARY

Members of the Facility Operations Crew will assist with maintaining building and equipment cleanliness and functionality, building setups and teardowns for events, and some event monitoring. Other duties may include assisting with seasonal set-up and tear down of the Recreation and Athletic Outdoor Complex (RAOC) and regular Grizzly Oaks Disc Golf Course maintenance. Support for certain RAOC turf maintenance projects might be delegated.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work as a team.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Proven track record of effectively managing time and tasks with minimal supervision while consistently meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication abilities and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring that all tasks are completed with care. Skilled in identifying potential errors or areas for improvement in processes.
  • Professionalism: Maintains a high standard of professionalism in all interactions, demonstrating respect, courtesy, and a positive attitude in fast-paced environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, dusting, sanitizing, mopping, and vacuuming of Rec facilities.
  • Perform setup/teardown for events (tables, chairs, bleachers, podiums, signs, and stage sections.)
  • Monitor event/rental groups for appropriate facility usage and cleanliness of spaces.
  • Assist with the annual shutdown week projects.
  • Assist with seasonal setup and teardown of goals, tennis/pickleball nets, windscreens, and safety backstops.
  • Sweeping and basic maintenance of tennis courts and track surfaces.
  • Assisting with regular trash checks and maintenance of pads and buckets on the Grizzly Oaks Disc Golf Course.
  • Work independently or as a team to complete appropriate forms and lists.

COMPENSATION

  • $15/hour - Minimum rate for new hires

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and early mornings.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
  • Act in accordance with the Clery Act as a mandated reporter and carry out responsibilities in reporting a crime on campus as a University Recreation and Well-Being staff member.
  • Must be enrolled part-time, at least 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and 4 credit hours for graduate students at Oakland University.
  • Certification in Group Exercise instruction by a reputable agency is required.
  • Must obtain American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification upon hire
  • Complete assigned OU Golf Cart training requirements at the time of hire.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED 

  • Facility Operations Crew reports directly to the Facility Operations Coordinator.
  • Facility Operations Crew reports indirectly to the Facility Operations Team Lead.
  • Additionally, Facility Operations Crew may receive on-duty requests or instruction from any Rec Well professional staff member.
