JOB SUMMARY
The Graphic Designer will collaborate closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator and the Marketing Graduate Assistant to create impactful visual content for departmental marketing efforts. The Graphic Designer is responsible for designing materials such as digital assets, brochures, banners, reports, promotional t-shirts, and other collateral. This role also includes representing the department during university events and supporting departmental promotions as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
- Strong listening and communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and multitask in dynamic work environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, work on multiple projects simultaneously, remain calm under pressure, and maintain an open mind at all times
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proven track record of effectively managing time and tasks with minimal supervision while consistently meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing project needs.
- General photography skills (preferred but not required).
- Experience in Procreate is welcomed.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring that all tasks are completed with care. Skilled in identifying potential errors or areas for improvement in processes
- Professionalism: Maintains a high standard of professionalism in all interactions, demonstrating respect, courtesy, and a positive attitude in fast-paced environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Office Hours & Communication
- Maintain a minimum of two days per week of in-person office hours to connect with supervisors and team members (remote work permitted for the remainder of the week).
- Collaborate with students and staff to determine the scope, design elements, and messaging for each project.
- Build relationships and communicate project priorities with professional staff members.
- Project Planning & Coordination
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to align creative concepts with project objectives and goals.
- Coordinate with team members to manage project timelines and receive feedback for revisions.
- Content Creation & Design:
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) to design digital and print assets, including but not limited to:
- Brochures
- Banners
- Event signage
- Social media graphics
- Reports and marketing collateral
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) to design digital and print assets, including but not limited to:
- Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work independently and as part of a design team to complete projects efficiently.
- Act as a departmental representative during university events and promotions, as needed.
- Hours per Week: 10–20 hours

COMPENSATION
- $15/hour - Minimum rate for new hires
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Available to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
- Act in accordance with the Clery Act as a mandated reporter and carry out responsibilities in reporting a crime on campus as a University Recreation and Well-Being staff member.
- Must be enrolled part-time, at least 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and 4 credit hours for graduate students at Oakland University.
- Must obtain American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification upon hire.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
- Graphic Designers report directly to the Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
- Graphic Designers report indirectly to the Marketing Graduate Assistant.
- Additionally, Graphic Designers may receive requests or instruction from any Rec Well professional staff member.
