International Affairs Summer/Fall '25 Internship (Russia/Ukraine Focus)

APCO is looking for a college senior or recent graduate to join the Office of the Executive Chairman (OXC). We are looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic intern who has a strong professional and linguistic background in Russia, Ukraine and Central Asia to join OXC. OXC supports our founder and chairman, Margery Kraus, on a range of new business proposals, client support, and thought leadership content. Our team is dynamic, fast-paced, and consistently operates at a global level.       

The intern will support our international communication and public affairs efforts by conducting research, analyzing data, preparing reports, and assisting with various projects. The intern will also be responsible for monitoring media coverage and social media in Russia, Ukraine, and Central Asia. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in economic policy, business and investment, geopolitics, culture and events. Although most of the work will consist in assisting with Russia/Ukraine-related requests, the intern will have the opportunity to explore other areas and support other teams across APCO. 
 

This internship may sit in our Washington DC office. 
 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conducting research and analysis on business, investment, and economic issues related to clients in Russia, Ukraine, and Central Asia;
  • Monitoring Russian and/or Ukrainian-language media coverage and social media platforms;
  • Draft briefs for new business opportunities, fact sheets, and editorial content;
  • Monitor issues or news events;
  • Identify and compile lists of media and policy stakeholders;
  • Research topics and issues and analyzing findings;
  • Edit and proofread client deliverables;
  • Assist in the development of client proposals;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in written and spoken Russian or Ukrainian;
  • Experience studying or working in Russia, Ukraine or Central Asia is a plus;
  • A recent graduate or; a senior currently enrolled in an accredited university or college as a full-time undergraduate;
  • The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and attentive to detail;
  • Applicants are expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills and experience successfully balancing multiple tasks;
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Requires US Work Authorization, unable to consider candidates with OPT/Post-OPT status

What are the core working hours and will I need to be in an office? 

Our interns work between 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 

We are committed to a hybrid and flexible working environment, and there may be days that you wish to work from home and days that we come together so that you get to explore more of our culture and meet other colleagues. You will be provided with a company laptop so that you are able to work from home and in the office easily. 

Compensation:
 
This is a paid internship at a fixed hourly rate of $17.50.

When does the internship commence? 

Our intern program begins on Monday, June 9th and ends on Friday, December 12th 2025.
