Michigan Milk Producers Association is looking for an ambitious Accounting Intern to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company s finances. The ideal candidate will be familiar with accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and pay attention to detail. The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department.
Who are we?
Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA), established in 1916, is a member owned and operated dairy cooperative. MMPA serves approximately 1,600 dairy farmer members in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ohio. The dairy cooperative, the 10th largest in the U.S.
MMPA markets nearly 5 billion pounds of milk annually to fluid milk customers and food ingredient manufacturers. MMPA operates two manufacturing plants in Ovid and Constantine, Michigan and a cheese plant in Middlebury, Indiana. Products made at the Michigan plants include butter, ultra-filtered milk, powdered milk, cream and condensed skim milk. These products are sold to a wide range of food manufacturers who make end-use products such as candy, ice cream, pudding, baked goods, cheese and yogurt.

Responsibilities
- Analyze Budget/Actual coding inconsistencies, review with FP&A and A/P, recommend process changes and reclasses.
- Assist with compiling data for the fiscal 2025 external audit.
- Assist with Fixed Asset book to physical review.
- Review and close open PO’s, that are no longer valid.
- Review and close open fixed asset PO’s and PO’s that are no longer valid.
- Work on the test GL module of D365 for prepaid account automation. Recommend process flow to replace excel.
- Assist with document retention for Accounts Payable and automated invoice processing.
- Assist with other accounting projects
Skills
- Excellent organizing abilities

- Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
- Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Team oriented- cooperative and collaborative
