Quality Engineering Intern - Summer 2025

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES 

This Intern position will include work in both Quality Engineering and Warranty Engineering.  Tasks assigned will be associated with both job functions at Opmobility.

  • Support Development QE Team to optimize Control Plans & supporting documentation.
  • Learn the fundamentals of the Development QE and Warranty Engineering roles.
  • Develop student for possible future open quality position in Troy, Huron, Adrian
  • Observe QE and similar roles during new launches (trial support, test, measure, scan, etc.)
  • Develop skills necessary to be successful as a OPmobility team member (communication, negotiations, problem-solving, leading small groups, etc.)
  • Perform testing on field return and 0-mile failure parts, collect and analyze data, generate reports, and present findings to Warranty Engineers and Customer representatives.
  • Support Warranty Part analysis, by performing pareto analysis of warranty claim data from multiple customers.
  • Schedules tests and keeps test requestor, engineer, and supervisor informed of progress in order to meet customer requested timing.
  • Completes testing assignments in accordance with work request instructions under direct supervision by the FRAC technicians, Warranty Engineers, or Lab Manager
  • Comply with OPmobility Quality System Procedures
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
  • Other duties, as needed by the Quality Engineering and Warranty teams.

Will acquire basic know-how of quality engineering process verification, line auditing, and understanding molding and assembly equipment, including:

  • Understand assembly steps and associated Control Plan requirements.
  • Understand connection in roles between technical development center and a manufacturing plant.
  • Exposure to the automotive industry and OPmobility operations

 

PROFILE REQUIRED

Personal Background

  • High School Diploma
  • Pursuing a Bachelors in one of the below fields
    • Engineering, Business, similar
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Proficient using MS Excel and PowerPoint, other applications.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • At ease and effective in a multicultural and fast evolving environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good organization skills. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Basic ability to navigate Internet and Intranet software packages.
  • Must be flexible & dependable. 
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills (English required)
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Be willing to travel to manufacturing plants and customer / supplier locations.
