Corporate Development Intern (Engineering)

Bastian Solutions is seeking a Corporate Development Intern (Engineering) for a summer internship in Coppell, TX 75019.  The internship will run from mid-May - August 2025.  This is fully in office internship.  

The Corporate Development Intern will be responsible for partnering with departments across Bastian Solutions to facilitate the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, with particular emphasis on guiding the company’s solution strategy and R&D priorities. 

This position will use market data and perform internal reviews of Bastian Solution’s product and service offerings to set the company’s R&D roadmap. Using data analysis, material handling system design, computer simulation and engineering economics, this role will quantify the benefits of proposed solution alternatives and provide recommendations that support Bastian Solutions’ strategic direction. 

Additionally, the position will impact Bastian Solution’s corporate strategic direction through annual Hoshin Kanri (strategic planning process). This role will work collaboratively with other functions including Finance, Corporate Quality, Solutions Delivery, and Manufacturing to ensure that Bastian Solutions’ company-wide strategic initiatives are successfully deployed across the business.


 

Job Functions:

• Complete regular market, industry, and competitor analysis to identify and quantify attractive market opportunities for long-term growth
• Facilitate cross-functional teams to successfully execute corporate development projects as assigned
• Develop and lead the execution of an innovative solution roadmap based on market analysis and in line with corporate strategic initiatives 
• Perform financial analysis on solution alternatives to determine optimal approach, business case, and ROI
• Act as the main liaison between the customer base and R&D teams by providing key market insights and customer requirements identified through close interactions with internal and external customers
• Create data, simulation and cost models of automated material handling systems. Identify key metrics for solutions comparisons.
• Develop recommendations based on quantifiable data and simulation results that enable Bastian Solutions to address opportunities in its markets.
• Provide excellent documentation and present analysis results to the leadership team
• Be a champion Bastian Solution’s strategic vision across the company

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications:

• Pursuing degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or similar degree
• Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
• Comfortable with MS Excel (variable inputs, outputs, analyzing data, etc.) 
• Understanding of performance parameters and controls/software operation systems
• Develop material and information system handling concepts based on market data 
• Ability to collaborate within a team environment both in-person and virtual
• Ability to communicate to all levels in an organization with confidence
• Demonstrate an understanding of automated material handling design considerations
• Ability to draw conclusions from data, simulation and cost analysis results
• Outstanding listening, written and verbal communications skills, including strong presentation skills
• Strong technical writing skills to clearly communicate analysis assumptions and results
• Consistently provide excellent customer service 
• Team player who can also work independently

Travel Requirements: 

• 5% or less overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)
