
Engineering Lab Intern - St. Clair, Michigan
Summer Intern Product Engineering Plastics Lab
Objectives:
· Assist the Lab with their daily workload through the summer months.
· Become familiar with the proper Testing, Prototyping Procedures and Test Report Writing Requirements for an ISO17025 Accredited Laboratory.
· Become proficient at certain Test Procedures (Leak, Insertion Effort, Pull-Apart Effort and Burst) that you will be able to set up and properly perform the testing with little to no supervision.
· Become proficient at Prototype set up and builds with little to no supervision.
· Be able to properly complete a Test Report with Test Result Data and Photos.
· Create and present a PowerPoint Presentation summarizing your accomplishments and experience in the Lab throughout your Summer Internship to Norma Upper Management.
Pathway to achieving the above Objectives:
· Work closely with an assigned Mentor who will guide you through the required training on Proper Test Procedures, Prototype Builds and Test Report writing.
· The assigned Mentor will train you on where locate the Files and Data in the Norma System to properly complete the assigned work.
· The assigned Mentor will have you work with them initially on Tests/ Prototype Builds and Test Report writing that they are assigned for your first level of training.
· Later, the assigned Mentor will have you setting up and performing Tests/ Prototype Builds and writing Test Reports while they oversee and assist with the tasks which is the second level of training.
· The last level of training is when the assigned Mentor has enough confidence that you can complete the Testing/ Prototype Build or Test Report on your own with little supervision or oversight.

Education and/or Experience:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
· Basic Measurement Skills using precision measuring tools and equipment.
Computer Skills:
· Proficiency in the PC environment and general computer skills such as email, spreadsheets, word processors, file navigation, and internet navigation must be demonstrated.
· Experience with
§ Microsoft Office software applications.
Other Skills and Abilities:
· Must be able to maintain a clean and safe work area.
· Must be Detail Oriented
· Must be able to clearly communicate information and observations in writing.
· Mechanical Aptitude
