Summer Intern - IT PMO Technology and Optimization

Overview

The Insmed Summer Internship Program gives students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a corporate environment in the pharmaceutical industry, receive mentoring from highly skilled professionals, and work on dynamic team projects. Our 2025 Summer Intern program is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship. The internship may present opportunities for rotational assignments within the function, and the intern will be assigned goals and objectives that will support the strategic business plan of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Project Data Analysis & Reporting: Develop metric-based reports and dashboards to track project health, risks, and portfolio performance
  • AI Idea Library Development: Organize submitted AI ideas by tagging keywords, summarizing key details (problem, solution, benefits), and identifying common themes to store and maintain in a user friendly repository
  • Process Automation & Workflow Optimization: Develop scripts or small utilities to automate repetitive PMO tasks like reporting, data import, or reconciliation between systems
  • Tool Optimization & Integration: Build or support enhancements to the project portfolio tool by improving data visualization, reporting capabilities, or integrating with other IT systems.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Support: Assist IT project managers in gathering data, tracking project progress, and preparing for project planning or strategy discussions.
  • AI & Automation Opportunities: Research potential AI-driven or automation enhancements for PMO functions, such as predictive analytics for project risks or intelligent reporting.
  • Trend & Benchmarking Analysis: Research IT project management best practices, emerging trends, and industry benchmarks to identify process improvements and optimization opportunities for the PMO.

Qualifications

  • Interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry 
  • Currently in full-time pursuit of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or advanced level degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Experience or coursework in data visualization, automation, or workflow optimization
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Interest in IT project management and familiarity with structured development and testing processes or methodologies.
  • Understand or organize key project elements such as problem statements, objectives, scope, and expected outcomes.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written).   
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness.   
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Individuals must demonstrate the ability to interact successfully in a dynamic and culturally diverse workplace.
