Environmental Intern

Job Purpose

This position will support our environmental team as a Summer Intern from May 2025 – August 2025, and will be based in Hanceville. This is a paid, full-time Internship. Our interns will gain insight and exposure to our Oriented Strand Board (OSB) manufacturing facilities along with the dynamic environmental role of a plant environmental professional.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Interact with experienced EHS and manufacturing professionals to understand the day-to-day working environment of an operating facility.
  • Perform tasks specific to functional areas such as preparing reports, tracking data, coordinating contractors, and conducting and performing routine inspections.
  • Participate in meetings and interface with various site functional teams.
  • Participate in incident investigations, safety inspections, training development.
  • Develop and enhance environmental programs and procedures.
  • Work on significant projects that drive an injury-free culture.
  • Developmental training in Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) program.
  • Intern will report to the Plant Environmental Manager and have exposure to other environmental professionals and interns in the company and perform other duties as assigned.

What do I need to be successful?

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and time management skills

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program, preferably in (safety or environmental related field)

Work Environment

  • This position will work onsite at a wood products manufacturing facility with exposure to sawdust and chemicals
  • Ability to conduct outdoor field work
  • Ability to access all areas of manufacturing site including stairs and ladders.
  • Non-office work areas are not climate controlled
