Position Overview:

Vngle is redefining grassroots journalism by making trusted, nonpartisan news accessible to all. As our Editorial & Videography Intern, you’ll be at the forefront of strengthening our video editorial efforts, supporting grassroots reporters across America, and uplifting underrepresented voices from coast to coast.

This fast-paced role is perfect for a detail-oriented storyteller who thrives under deadlines, loves working with video content and investigative research, and wants to make a real impact in communities nationwide. You’ll assist in crafting compelling, factual, and visually engaging stories while ensuring accuracy in our grassroots reports. Your work will help elevate stories that often go unheard, providing visibility to diverse perspectives nationwide.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Video Editing & Post-Production: Edit and enhance fast-turnaround video reports, social media clips, and news content using tools like Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Fact-Checking & Research: Verify grassroots reports by quickly researching claims, sourcing credible information, and collaborating with journalists to ensure accuracy.
  • Supporting Grassroots Reporters: Work closely with on-the-ground contributors across the U.S. to help shape and refine their video reports for national audiences.
  • Content Structuring: Assist in organizing and scripting high-impact video content that aligns with Vngle’s editorial standards.
  • Visual Enhancements: Add graphics, captions, and effects to improve video clarity, engagement, and accessibility.
  • Social Media Storytelling: Help adapt video content for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts to expand Vngle’s digital reach.
  • Collaboration & Workflow Improvement: Work with the editorial and production teams to streamline video-editing processes and research methodologies.
     

Qualifications:

We welcome passionate, curious, and driven individuals looking to sharpen their skills in journalism, video production, and research—all while making an impact.

Must-Haves:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Media Production, Communications, Film, or a related field.
  • Strong skills in video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent).
  • Research and fact-checking ability, with attention to credibility, speed, and accuracy.
  • A keen eye for storytelling, with the ability to structure compelling narratives that uplift underrepresented voices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience with motion graphics or animation (After Effects, Canva, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with AI-based video tools (Descript, Runway, or similar).
  • Skills in social media storytelling (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc.).
  • Interest in grassroots journalism, civic tech, or media innovation.
