kinkofa is the first-ever family history and genealogy platform dedicated to connecting the African Diaspora. We build and leverage innovative technologies to provide a seamless and engaging experience for users to connect with their roots, cultures, and families. Our users are enabled to uncover, record, and preserve their family stories with pride and dignity. 

 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Join us as an Experiential Marketing and Partnerships Associate, where you'll be at the forefront of driving brand awareness and demand for Kinkofa's products through experiential marketing and partnerships. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our team to craft and execute high-impact events that delight and deliver exceptional experiences for our users, community partners, and brand collaborators. Get hands-on experience in strategic partnership development and end-to-end event production. 

 

COMPENSATION

$20/HR USD

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Event Production 

● Assist in planning, designing, and producing virtual and in-person experiential marketing events including workshops, brand activations, and community gatherings. 

● Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and successful event outcomes. 

● Develop industry events calendar and brand activations playbook. 

● Engage with users to understand their needs and preferences then incorporate their feedback into event planning. 

● Support team and consultants in managing event logistics, production, venue sourcing, budget tracking, attendee experience, marketing campaigns, sales enablement, and audience acquisition. 

● Research and present emerging event activation trends to position Kinkofa as industry leaders in creating unforgettable experiences. 

● Align event strategies with overall business objectives in collaboration with the team. Partnership Development 

● Identify and nurture partnerships with community organizations, influencers, and brands that align with our mission and campaign objectives. 

● Collaborate with partners to develop mutually beneficial marketing initiatives and event activations. 

● Respond to inbound partnership inquiries and lead outreach for key events such as AfroTech 2024, Black Music Month, Juneteenth, National Family History Month, and HBCU Homecoming Season. 

● Support the team in creating partnership decks and pitches tailored to partner missions and objectives, crafting compelling narratives to drive engagement.

WHO YOU ARE (RECOMMENDED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & INTERESTS) 

● Creative mindset with an eye for design and a pulse on emerging experiential marketing trends. ● Passionate about curating memorable experiences and fostering community engagement. ● Experience coordinating events on campus and in the community. 

● Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

● Detail-oriented problem solver with excellent time management skills and organizational and project management abilities. 

● Strategic thinking with the capacity to execute methodically across multiple events and programs. ● Pursuing a degree in Event or Media Production, Public Relations, Marketing, Hospitality, or a related field. 

● Interest in creative storytelling, cultural heritage preservation, and consumer behavior ● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. 

 

NICE TO HAVES 

● Interests outside of marketing in: anthropology, genealogy, family history, African Diaspora studies or related fields is a plus. 

● Proficiency with CRMs, marketing automation software, project and event management platforms (e.g., Airtable, Luma, Milanote, Notion, Eventbrite). 

● Familiarity with social media, live streaming/gaming, and virtual events 

● Advertising, sales, and procurement experience
