RPG IBM Developer Intern
What You’ll Do:
Under direct supervision, the RPG IBM Developer Intern assists in creating and maintaining application programs on our freight platform.
Position Functions:
- Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security
- Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all the team deliverables
- Write high quality distributed system software
- Promote state of the art technology trends, standards, frameworks, and tooling
- Work in an agile and startup development
What We’re Looking For:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
Experience
- 0-2 years experience working in an information technology environment preferred
- Knowledge of IT Service Management and various frameworks a plus
- Transportation, Logistics, and/or Tech experience a plus
Skills & Abilities
- Basic programming knowledge in RPGLE and CLLE on the IBM i.
- Basic knowledge of both fixed format and free format source.
- Basic knowledge SQL and embedded SQL.
- Basic knowledge of IBM Rational Developer for i.
- Basic knowledge developing with ILE procedure, modules, and service programs.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle.
- Adept at assessing organizational dynamics and managing change
- Works quickly and efficiently. Able to test solutions, learn, and iterate quickly
- Proactive and pragmatic problem solver
- Demonstrate competencies in analysis, teamwork, customer service, planning/organization, flexibility, stress tolerance, and communication
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Strong analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Maintain good peer, internal, and external client relations
