Part-time Intern Right of Way

VELCO’s Advancing Grid Intelligence through Learning Experiences (AGILE) Program is a summer internship opportunity for undergraduate and graduate college students. Based on principles of agile project management, AGILE Interns will make meaningful and tangible contributions to VELCO’s strategic projects to protect reliability and affordability of the transmission system.

How you will make an impact

Our Real Estate and Right of Way department manages more than 13,000 acres of right-of-way, acquires property and easements as necessary for transmission projects, and protects VELCO's real property investments and deeded rights to ensure public and employee safety, and electric system reliability. In this internship role, you will gain knowledge on the relationship between GIS and utilities landowner/public outreach work.

Examples include:

  • Assisting in modernizing ROW's landowner database and collecting information
  • Use data to develop and execute a landowner outreach mailing campaign
  • Join the team on outreach opportunities in the public

This is a part-time, 20 hour/week summer internship position.

Who you are

Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree. Preference will be given to students who have accumulated two years of pertinent part-time experience. Participants with open-mindedness, attention to detail, and excitement about gaining new insights every day will thrive in this innovative, fast-paced learning experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and relational databases
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues
  • Open-mindedness, strong communication and problem-solving skills

Important Considerations

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
