The Macatawa Area Coordinating Council (MACC) is a regional organization dedicated to transportation planning and coordination in the Holland/Zeeland area. We work collaboratively with local governments, transportation agencies, and community stakeholders to develop and implement transportation solutions that enhance mobility, sustainability, and quality of life for residents.

Position Overview:
MACC is seeking a dynamic and motivated Summer Intern to serve as an Environmental Planner for the summer of 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity for a college-enrolled individual to gain hands-on experience in sustainability initiatives, transportation planning, and environmental stewardship. An average week will consist of three days at MACC and two days at the ODC, providing a well-rounded experience in both transportation planning and environmental engagement. Work hours will be flexible, particularly as the college semester resumes in late summer, allowing for a balance between academic commitments and internship responsibilities.

Collaborate with local businesses, organizations, and transportation partners to secure sponsorships, prizes, and support for Green Commute Week activities.

Collect and analyze data on participant engagement, mode shift, and environmental impact to evaluate the success of Green Commute Week initiatives.

Prepare post-event reports, presentations, and recommendations for future Green Commute Week events based on feedback and lessons learned.

Assisting in the formulation of strategic recommendations for infrastructure improvements to enhance usability and safety.

Outdoor Discovery Center - Support:
Support environmental initiatives at the ODC Network by assisting ODC staff and interns with water quality field work, environmental education programs, habitat restoration projects, and outdoor events.

This additional responsibility allows the intern to gain firsthand experience in environmental stewardship and outdoor education while contributing to the mission and goals of the Outdoor Discovery Center.
