Communications and Digital Media Internship
The Michigan Supreme Court Public Information Office is seeking candidates for a Communications and Digital Media Internship. This internship is designed for college students interested in gaining professional experience in public relations, digital media, and communications within the judiciary. The intern will support the Michigan Supreme Court Public Information Office in maintaining transparent, accessible, and engaging communication with the public and with news media. The position reports directly to the Communications Director, and primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Creating a daily news digest and distributing it to subscribers.
- Writing news releases, media advisories, and articles for internal and external communications.
- Developing social media content and monitoring analytics.
- Producing video and graphic design materials for the Court’s website and social channels.
- Conducting court-related research and compiling statistical data.
- Supporting special events and helping to coordinate media interactions for the judiciary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university majoring in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Graphic Design, or related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram), and Adobe Creative Cloud.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with video editing software
- Demonstrated interest in Michigan’s judiciary
- Familiarity with journalistic writing style
LOCATION: Official work-site location is the Hall of Justice, Lansing, Michigan. Flexible work options, including remote work, may be available for this position in accordance with the MSC/SCAO Remote Work Policy, although the candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
