About Us:
People’s Choice Communications is a worker-owned social enterprise dedicated to bridging the digital divide by providing affordable, community-owned broadband access, including $11 laptops. Our mission is rooted in community empowerment, equity, and the belief that internet access is a fundamental right.

We are committed to ensuring that internet access never prevents kids from completing their homework, job-seekers from applying for higher-wage positions, or individuals from accessing SNAP, unemployment, or other critical social benefits. By prioritizing community-driven solutions, we strive to create a future where connectivity, social mobility, and educational opportunity is accessible to all.

About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and driven Deputy Field Organizer (DFO) to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in advancing our mission by building coalitions, mobilizing communities, and advocating for equitable broadband access and digital justice. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between our organization, grassroots networks, and policymakers, fostering meaningful change for underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community members and leaders, local organizations, and stakeholders to promote affordable broadband access and digital equity initiatives.
Advocacy Campaigns: Develop and execute advocacy strategies to advance policies that address the digital divide, including hosting events, meetings, and lobbying efforts.
Volunteer Recruitment and Training: Identify, recruit, and train volunteers to support grassroots campaigns, including canvassing, phone banking, and event participation.
Public Education: Organize workshops, community forums, and outreach events to educate the public about the importance of digital equity and community ownership of broadband.
Coalition Building: Collaborate with nonprofits, community-based organizations, political candidates, elected officials, and advocacy groups to create unified efforts toward equitable technology policies.
Data Management: Track outreach metrics, analyze campaign progress, and maintain detailed records using CRM tools (e.g., NGP VAN, Nationbuilder, Splynx).
Policy Advocacy: Stay informed about relevant legislation and digital equity issues, using this knowledge to drive effective advocacy efforts.

Qualifications:
Communication: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with an ability to inspire and motivate diverse audiences.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead volunteers and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment.
Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using digital outreach tools, social media, and CRM software for campaign management.
Commitment to Mission: Passion for digital equity, community empowerment, and addressing systemic inequities.
Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel within the community as required.

Preferred Skills:
Multilingual abilities to connect with diverse communities.
Knowledge of broadband access issues, digital privacy, and community-owned technology models.
Familiarity with the political landscape in New York City.
