Please note that through Blackstone LaunchPad’s partnership with Company Ventures, this role is ONLY open for students currently enrolled at City University of New York (CUNY) schools. Only CUNY students will be invited to interview and participate.

COMMUNICATION INTERN
WHO WE ARE
Good Call is a community-centered tech nonprofit based in NYC working to disrupt the cycle of mass incarceration. The organization helps protect the rights of marginalized communities facing excessive and unnecessary arrests and unfair treatment by the criminal justice system. Through a free 24/7 hotline, youth programs and community outreach, Good Call provides free proactive and/or immediate legal support for those arrested while educating and impacting their communities. Good Call is helping to develop the future tech to advance, support and improve the criminal justice system.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to empower communities of color and create systemic transformation by using technology and community organizing to provide immediate access to legal support. By providing access to immediate legal representation, individuals are given a chance to prevent lifelong consequences for wrongful charges. By transforming the arrest process, Good Call advocates to make early legal intervention a standard process in NYC and beyond.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated student curious about the work and tasks performed by a communications manager and content creator. We have begun to establish our presence on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, but we need someone with the vision, creativity, and dedication to take our social media presence to the next level. The communications intern will work closely with our Marketing Manager and Advocacy Associate to execute Good Call’s content calendar and communications plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Assist Marketing Manager and Advocacy Associate in managing Good Call’s social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Act as a historian and ambassador for the organization
Capture team moments and give the public a glimpse into our everyday work through:
Newsletter Management
CEO Digital Letter Management
Internship Newsletter Management
Social Media Posts
Assist in the development of content and exploration of new social media platforms
Create and maintain social media calendar across various platforms
A STRONG CANDIDATE WILL HAVE A COMBINATION OF:
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally; strong written and verbal skills
Ability to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously while prioritizing to meet respective deadlines; strong organizational and time-management skills are key
A natural inclination to be a proactive task manager and problem solver
A growth mindset and a habit of curiosity
Ability to work in a busy environment and small, non-traditional (often virtual) office, where collaboration and communication are key to success
Commitment to building diverse and inclusive spaces and to fostering equitable, anti-racist structures
ESSENTIAL FOR PERFORMING THIS ROLE:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
Proficiency in Adobe and/or Canva
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Proficiency in managing multiple social media platforms and channels
Strong interest in and desire to disrupt the cycle of mass incarceration
