
Cybersecurity Intern
Seeking students interested in gaining practical experience in cybersecurity and healthcare IT.
Position: Cybersecurity Intern
Duration: May 5, 2025 – December 12, 2025
Part time, working 15 – 29 hours/week
Location: Remote, based in Michigan (Eastern Time Zone)
Wage: $14/hour
The company is currently not authorized to support remote work employees in the following locations: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Delaware, Idaho, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, Utah, Wyoming.
The student internship program accepts international students with up-to-date work authorization for off-campus employment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform risk assessments and execute tests of data processing system to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures.
- Encrypt data transmissions and establish firewalls to conceal confidential information as it is being transmitted and to keep out tainted digital transfers.
- Modify computer systems to incorporate new software, correct errors, or change individual access status.
- Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards by using relevant information to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Review, audit and report on users and actions in computer logs.
- Participate in application lifecycle management activities related to security, such as third party vulnerability reporting and tracking.
- Participate in the maintenance and improvement of current processes by recommending improvements and staying current on industry trends and technology.
Monitor threat reports and mitigate vulnerability disclosures
Tools we use: AWS, Tenable, Crowdstrike, DUO, Bitbucket, Zoom meetings, JIRA ticketing service, JIRA Agile Kanban project management, Confluence, Microsoft Outlook email and calendar, Microsoft Teams chat and meetings, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Qualifications
- Seeking entry level cyber security support technician or experience in a related field interested in learning Health IT information security specialty.
- Experience with network analysis and troubleshooting
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Ability to prioritize and monitor multiple tasks
- Ability to present and articulate information learned to others effectively
- Experience with endpoint and threat management application(s) (e.g., Microsoft Defender, Crowdstrike, Tenable.)
- Familiarity with version control (i.e., GitHub, Bitbucket, or Gitlab) and software development processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build professional relationships in a remote work environment
- Ability to take initiative on tasks with little direction
- Excited to learn new tools, new concepts, and vocabulary.
