Laboratory Assistant Intern

CHS is hiring a Laboratory Assistant Intern in Randolph, MN for Spring/Summer 2025! This intern will work directly with our product development chemist in the development of new formulations, testing product efficacy, and analyzing lab results to support the creation of innovative and high-quality products.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance and work safely with laboratory/greenhouse health and safety guidelines, including oneself as well as others at the greenhouse.
- Assist in conducting experiments and research under the supervision of lab staff.
- Help prepare lab materials, including setting up equipment and preparing samples.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and data.
- Monitor and maintain lab equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly and conducting routine checks.
- Assist with data analysis and interpretation, including using software tools to analyze lab results.
- Help ensure the cleanliness and safety of the lab, adhering to safety protocols and disposing of waste materials properly.
- Assist with the organization and management of lab supplies, including inventory tracking and ordering as needed.
- Support in writing reports or summaries of experimental findings for presentations or publications. Safely work alone and work safely around agriculture materials.
- Sterilize equipment and store materials in secure places.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Currently enrolled in Agronomy, Animal Science, Horticulture, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Physics, Physical Science, or related field degree program.
Additional Qualifications
- Desire to learn, adjust and find solutions to problems.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a group.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to utilize office tools (phone, fax, computer) Microsoft Office products.
- Strong computer skills needed.
Physical Requirements
- Lift/Carry 40 lbs. or less.
- Push/Pull up to 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull up to 100 lbs.
- Lift/Carry up to 100 lbs.
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
