2025 Fall Social Media and Content Creation Internship

Summary

The Marketing internship will provide an individual with a part-time opportunity (20 hours per week) to learn and hone skills fundamental to marketing, including social media, photo database management, and project management. As part of this internship, the Marketing intern will play a central role in guiding and crafting social media campaigns for The Studio, including photography, strategy, and content. Additionally, the Marketing intern will take the lead on redeveloping our photo management systems and processes. The Marketing intern will have the opportunity to work with and learn from professionals across departments, including Graphics and Communications.

 

Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Strategize, schedule, and monitor channel-appropriate content for The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass. Actively cover classes, Artists-in-Residence, and events for The Studio in real-time.
  • Partner with Museum stakeholders, including the Social Media & Photography Specialist, Marketing Manager, and members of The Studio, leveraging their expertise to create coverage that achieves maximum impact and engagement.
  • Monitor The Studio’s social channel, flagging sensitive questions or topics with Social Media & Photography Specialist immediately.
  • Research emerging practices in social media, providing recommendations when appropriate.

Photography

  • Streamline and manage photo database.
  • Edit photos in post-production.
  • Create and edit short video content.
  • Incorporate metadata into marketing image files.

General

  • Supports and amplifies the Museum’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
  • Maintains and grows knowledge of social media best practices, including trends both within and outside the museum industry.
  • Contributes to a positive and productive workplace through communication and collaboration.

Learning/Training Opportunities

  • Driving sense of curiosity.
  • Ability to contribute within a team setting; strong collaboration skills.
  • Broad knowledge of and experience using Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to work part time (20 hours per week), or more if needed for academic credit.
