Summary
We're seeking a creative and analytical UI/UX Design & User Research Intern to support the evolution of our Touch Encoder product family. This intern will contribute to the design and testing of intuitive human-machine interfaces by developing prototypes, running usability studies, and collaborating across teams to shape the next generation of user interaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
- Collaborate with product, software, and design teams to iterate on interface designs for the Touch Encoder (TE-M and TE-F models).
- Use GUIDE (Grayhill's UI development platform) to build, simulate, and test screen workflows and touch interactions.
- Conduct user research and usability testing with internal and external stakeholders in industrial, medical, and automotive applications.
- Analyze and synthesize findings to inform user interface improvements and interaction models.
- Help define and apply human-centered design principles in line with Grayhill's brand and product strategy.
- Document prototypes, findings, and UX recommendations for engineering and product teams.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Industrial Design, UX/UI Design, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in interaction design and human-centered design methods.
- Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, or equivalent prototyping tools.
- Exposure to user research techniques (interviews, usability tests, surveys).
- Bonus: Familiarity with embedded UI systems, touch interfaces, GUIDE software, or CAN J1939 protocols.
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication and presentation skills.
