Job Description:
SK Siltron CSS has a unique opportunity at our Bay City, MI site for a Growth Seed Improvement Intern for the summer of 2025.
Project Summary:
Throughout the time at SK Siltron CSS, the intern will complete a project that will provide them with new knowledge and expertise, as well as helping them to reach CSS goals and objectives. Throughout the internship, the intern will be evaluating how to produce and save the best polarized seed images by optimizing the setup and procedures to do so. Setup will include a polariscope/polarimeter with a camera for data capture and/or an existing flatbed scanner. They will measure the data found, compare side by side comparisons of all seeds processed, record the stress/strain of each seed, analyze that the new methodologies are better than the past methodologies, implement the management of change request after completion, and develop a posterboard presentation to present findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct the experiments listed above.
- Consult with project sponsor for feedback routinely.
- Elevate issues and roadblocks for elimination.
- Communicate a summary report of the project conclusions.
Physical Requirements:
S-Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Sophomore or later student in B.S program for Industrial engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical or engineering related degree preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with MS office.
