Product Intern

Pilz is currently seeking two interns based in our Canton, MI office: Product Intern & Services Intern.
The Product Intern will report to the Director Product Management & Academy and work on a wide variety of products from the Pilz portfolio. Product Interns will have an opportunity to support customers across many industries seeing a vast array of industrial machinery and applications.
The Product Intern will work closely with Pilz Application Engineers on customer application support and the creation of demo units.
This is a temporary position (summer 2025) typically requiring 40 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review existing Engineering drawings to assemble product demo units, including PLC programming
- Design, create AutoCAD drawings for, and build low-complexity demos and/or electrical safety panels
- Data entry including creation of Excel spreadsheets and reports
- Participate in the Technical Support call queue and email; supply technical documentation to customers as needed
- Digitization of Services documents
- Assist Technical Support with product testing; new products and returns
- Manage test equipment including shipping and calibration
- Review product presentations; update as necessary
- Prepare materials and demo units for training classes; includes testing and updating demo units as needed
- Initiate internal communications with Pilz Sales, Consultants, Engineers, and others, as needed, to complete duties
- Other duties as assigned
There may be opportunity for on-site customer visit(s) either local or requiring over-night travel. Any travel-related expenses would be paid for by Pilz.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates should be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar with Sophomore standing or higher
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others effectively
- Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills
- Proficient with MS Office
- Willingness to learn Pilz products and procedures
- Self-motivated, well-organized and team oriented

- Meet any physical safety requirements set by customer(s) for on-site visit(s)
To provide a well-rounded experience, candidates should expect to work as a Pilz Product Intern for approximately six (6) weeks and as a Pilz Services Intern for approximately six (6) weeks. Only one application is necessary to be considered for both positions.
