This opportunity is part of the New Jersey Career Accelerator Internship Grant Program. Interns will be expected to work 15-20 hours per week with some flexibility.
Overview of Position
The Hudson Med Spa in Englewood, NJ is seeking a dedicated and motivated intern with a strong interest in pursuing a career in the medical field. This internship offers hands-on experience in a plastic surgery and medical aesthetics setting, providing the opportunity to assist our board-certified plastic surgeons and physician assistants in daily clinical operations. Interns will gain valuable exposure to patient care, medical procedures, and the administrative aspects of a high-end medical spa. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates considering careers in medicine, nursing, or physician assistant programs.
The ideal candidate exudes positivity and energy, has excellent oral and written communication skills and is detail oriented. The candidate must feel comfortable engaging with patients and building relationships with them. Customer service experience is a plus. The candidate should also be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of tools (Excel, Teams, etc.), and be able to pick up new technology systems easily (e.g., patient management systems).
Responsibilities, Duties, and Projects:
- Assist plastic surgeons and physician assistants with patient intake, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and patient documentation
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready for procedures
- Shadow and support providers during consultations, minor procedures, and post-operative care
- Assist in post-procedure patient care, such as dressing changes and patient education on aftercare instructions
- Maintain proper inventory of medical supplies and assist in ordering as needed
- Help with medical documentation, including electronic medical records (EMR) entry and scribing during patient visits
- Provide patient comfort and support by answering questions and addressing non-medical concerns
- Observe and assist in pre- and post-operative assessments and follow-up care
- Assist in clinic organization, workflow efficiency, and general administrative tasks as needed. Prepare the office for opening and closing
- Participate in special projects, such as research on new treatment protocols, patient education initiatives, or practice improvements
