Graduate Administrative Assistant

Job Descriptions:

Graduate Administrative Assistants(GAs) provide 10 - 20 hours of service per week, over the course of a semester that may include research and/or administrative support for faculty. The PH.D. Graduate Assistant for the Department of Teaching and Learning is an Oakland University graduate student enrolled in the Literacy, Culture & Language Doctoral Program. 

Qualifications:

Ph.D. Graduate Assistants must be fully admitted and enrolled for at least 8 credits for the academic year in the Literacy, Culture & Language Doctoral Program. Graduate coursework and/or research must contribute directly to the satisfaction of Oakland's degree requirements. Graduate assistants must have and maintain good academic standing (3.0 grade point average).

Qualifications:

Applicants must be admitted and enrolled in the Literacy, Culture & Language Doctoral Program at Oakland University.

Ability to effectively work and communicate with faculty, prospective students, current students, family members, alumni, office colleagues, other university administrators and faculty, elementary, middle school and high school administrators and faculty, as well as all participants involved in research projects.

Must possess strong oral and written communications skills.

Must possess strong computer skills using Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.

Must be detail oriented and employ excellent customer service skills.

Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and handle multiple tasks at once.

Knowledgeable about research theories and methodologies.

Must be able to work on projects independently.

Expectations of the GA is 2 semesters commitment

Tuition:

Tuition (eight credits per semester or a total of 16 credits) will be compensated. Any additional credits and class fees, including books, will be the responsibility of the student. 

Compensation:

Students will receive a paycheck (via direct deposit if desired) on the last business day of each month for the duration of the assistantship.
