Organization Description

Born This Way Foundation, a nonprofit co-founded by Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, partners with young people to build a kinder and braver world that supports their mental health. Through youth-driven research, programs, and campaigns, Born This Way Foundation aims to engage young people directly with content that translates into action and to provide them with accessible resources that meet their needs. Role Description

As an intern on the Program team, you will support various programs, including:

  • Channel Kindness - Our youth storytelling platform that invites youth all around the world to put compassion into action in their own lives through community engagement.
  • Channel Kindness Storytellers Club - A free writing workshop that focuses on giving young people the tools they need to tell their stories and feel more comfortable expressing themselves through writing.
  • Kindness in Community (KiC) Fund - A global program which provides organizations around the world with funding to further their work meeting the diverse needs of young people in their communities.
     

The position will report to the Senior Manager of Programs and will work closely with the Foundation’s programming team to bring to life multiple projects core to the Foundation’s mission.
 

*Please note: All candidates for this internship must be a current student and will be required to sign an agreement stating they are completing the internship for educational benefit.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the development of our programs: Channel Kindness, Storytellers Club, and Kindness in Community Fund
  • Review written, video, and audio submissions for ChannelKindness.org and assist in editing stories 
  • Research and scout youth changemakers around the world whose values align with Channel Kindness
  • Assist in the outreach of organizations and partners for the Storytellers Club 
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Performing a variety of relevant administrative tasks including note taking and data entry
  • Help manage communication with grantees of the KiC Fund and with those interested in funding
  • Aid in tracking the implementation and impact of funds distributed to KiC Fund grantees
     

Role Qualifications

  • Studying communications, journalism, English or any equivalent social science
  • Knowledge of AP Style and a willingness to learn the Foundation’s personal style and brand
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and has the ability to clearly communicate solutions
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to to multi-task
