Position Title:      Operations Support, Emerging Talent Intern

Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate), $22.00 (Post-Graduate)

Overview of Department:

The primary responsibility of Staten Island Railways Operations Support department is to ensures that the business runs smoothly, effectively, and professionally. Operations Support oversees several areas within SIR, such as Employee Services, Timekeeping, Finance, Policy Compliance, Training and General Office. The MTA intern will be involved in Improve Employee Record Management, develop, manage databases related to training, injury, disciplinary history. Assist in periodic audit to ensure accuracy and compliance. Support departmental goals-streamline departmental processes, contribute to efficient Railroad operations.

Responsibilities:

•    Maintain all departmental electronic and paper files.
•    Prepare correspondences and various reports.
•    Set up and coordinate meetings.
•    Update records in PeopleSoft/Enterprise Leaming Management system.
•    Assist in testing internal controls and System Safety compliance.
•    Create and maintain databases for records management.
•    Schedule interviews with candidates.
•    Gather and organize pertinent documents.
•    File HR documents and manage HR-related records.
•    Provide recommendations to improve processes.

Projects:

•    Assist the Associate Analyst and the Admin Associate to screen resumes, schedule and confirm interviews with candidates.
•    Provide support to streamline and implement HR processes.
•    Maintain employee databases.
•    Provide support by preparing and maintaining analytical data such as charts, graphs, and reports using software applications such as SharePoint, PowerBI, Excel etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft (preferred, training provided)
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

Required Education:

  • Matriculated in undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA or graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
  • Major(s) Preferred: Business Administration/Management, Human Resources, Computer Science/Information Systems, Communications, Transportation, or related field.
