Backend Developer Intern – Equities Focus

Swing Phi is seeking a creative and driven Backend Developer Intern to join our growing team. As a key contributor, you'll help build and optimize the backend infrastructure that powers our equities-focused fintech platforms. This role offers hands-on experience at the intersection of traditional finance and cutting-edge technology, developing tools that enhance trading, analytics, and market research in the stock market.

What You’ll Do:

Design, build, and maintain backend systems for equity-focused applications

Develop APIs for stock data, trading signals, and performance analytics

Build data pipelines for real-time and historical market data ingestion

Optimize databases and services for low-latency and scalability

Implement secure and reliable backend infrastructure

Write clean, maintainable code using best practices

Collaborate with frontend and product teams to launch features

Debug and resolve performance, scaling, and integration issues

 

What We’re Looking For:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (junior or senior preferred)

Strong and demonstrated interest in equity markets, financial data, and trading infrastructure

Proficiency in backend languages such as Node.js, Python, or Go

Experience with RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and authentication protocols

Familiarity with financial data providers (e.g., IEX Cloud, Alpha Vantage, Polygon.io) is a plus

Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows

Knowledge of containerization tools (e.g., Docker) or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) is a plus

Eagerness to learn new technologies and solve complex backend challenges

Interest in machine learning or AI for financial modeling is highly preferred
