Graduate Software Engineer Intern - Neurodiversity Hiring Program

Neurodiversity in the Workplace is partnering with CVS Health on a Neurodiversity Hiring Process for neurodiverse students. The goal of the Neurodiversity Hiring process is to build an inclusive hiring approach that recognizes and embraces the strengths of Neurodiverse candidates. Neurodiversity encompasses a wide range of cognitive differences, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia & dyscalculia.

 

Position Summary  

This program is an 11-week full-time opportunity that provides real work experience with a team in your business area. You will be aligned to projects to lead or contribute to while also participating in networking, development, and career exploration activities. Our Corporate Interns can apply for future full-time roles during the program and have an increased likelihood to receive an offer for a post-graduation role.  

The summer internship program is from May 28 – August 8, 2025.  
 
CVS Health follows a 3 day in office (generally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) hybrid work model providing office-based colleagues the ability to flex between working in the office and working from home based on the work you need to accomplish. The other 2 days each week will be working remotely from home, office, or another location of your choice.    

Our office locations for this role are Scottsdale, AZ or Hartford, CT or Woonsocket, RI. A housing stipend may be provided, based on eligibility, and interns will be given the opportunity to connect with each other prior to the start of the program to coordinate housing if desired. The hourly rate is $27.50, with 40 hours per week, July 4th off (company holiday), and two days of paid leave. Please disregard the range listed below.

The Aetna Technology Organization is responsible for developing and supporting both internally and externally facing applications and products for Aetna's business, IT partners, and affiliates. What you will do    

As an intern in Aetna Technology, you will actively contribute to key initiatives across our platforms. You'll have hands-on opportunities to work closely with engineers and architects, gaining valuable insights into system design and development. Some experiences may include:

  • Leverage programming skills/knowledge to design and implement complex features, optimize performance, and ensure code efficiency
  • Assist in analyzing complex systems, identifying issues, and developing solutions to improve application performance and efficiency
  • Explore new tools, frameworks, and techniques to improve digital solutions and drive innovation within the development team

Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role. This includes participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.   

  

Required Qualifications  

  • Meet Education Requirements (see Education section)  
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge in Scripting Languages (Python, Java)
  • Database knowledge (SQL, No SQL)

  
Preferred Qualifications  

  • Leadership experience (e.g., student organizations, sports, or work-related projects)  
  • An interest in obtaining full-time position within CVS Health upon graduation  
  • Internship or work experience in a related field  
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal)  
  • Knowledge on Cloud Platforms (GCP, Azure)
  • Knowledge in using GitHub/CICD technology
  • Spring boot knowledge
  • Experience analyzing data
  • Problem solving skills
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of Agile Processes

  

Education  

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and August 2026  
  • Preferred majors include Information Systems/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science
